Every platformer needs something shiny to chase. In Fynn, that’s the sun-gem.
Why a turnaround?
A turnaround sheet shows an object from every side so it looks right however the camera catches it. Sun-gems spin, bob and sparkle all over the islands, so they need to read clearly from any angle, even from the corner of your eye mid-jump.
Designing for “grab me!”
A few things we wanted the sun-gem to have:
- A bold silhouette. The long diamond shape stands out against leafy greens and mossy stone.
- Warm, glowing colour. Golden yellow pops against blue skies, and it’s the same colour as the light that guides Fynn.
- Lots of facets. More faces means more sparkle as it turns.
